Blyth, Ontario - July 13 - 20, 2012
Path to Friendship
By Lee & Celia Steel
Publicity Chair
The 52nd Campvention, hosted by region 7, will be held in Blyth, Ontario, July 13-20, 2012. The theme is “Path to Friendship”.
Blyth, established in 1877, is a community nestled in the rich farmland of South Western Ontario. Many of its buildings still retain a Cape Dutch style of detailing that was popular after the Boer War. Today it has a quaint, charming ambiance on its revitalized Queen Street. Blyth is 280 km/175 mi from Windsor Ontario, 197 km/ 122 mi from Toronto Ontario and 228 km/141 mi from Niagara Falls Ontario.
Campvention will be held at the Blyth Recreation Campground, a short walk to the village. It’s a-one-of-a kind facility adjacent to a community centre. The cost of the week is $275. This provides everyone with 30 amp sites, washrooms and showers, informative seminars and nightly entertainment. Brought back by popular demand, Tim Horton’s will be on site every morning.
The following is a comparison of other camping experiences. The cost of entertainment and meals provided may vary, but as you will conclude – Campvention 2012 is still a bargain!
Located on the logo for this Campvention is the Inukshuk. An Inukshuk is a stone landmark used by the peoples of the Arctic regions from Alaska to Greenland. This region, above the Arctic Circle, is dominated by the tundra and has areas with few natural landmarks. The traditional meaning of the Inukshuk is “Someone was here” or “You are on the right path.” We hope to see many Inukshuks around the campground.
