International King & Queen

David and Connie Long of Berryton, Kansas have been elected as the 2009 International Retiree King and Queen of the Family Campers & RVers (FCRV). The annual selection occurs at FCRV’s winter Retiree Rally, held this year February 23 –28 at Casa Grande, Arizona. 350 people attended the rally. The First Runners-up were Bill and Penny Ramlow of Florida and Second Runners-up were Frank and Kay Newman of Michigan.

David and Connie Long have been married for 49 years and have two daughters, four granddaughters, and two grandsons. David is a veteran of the Marine Corps and is retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Connie is retired from Fleming Foods and Midland Hospice care.

Longs have been camping for 48 years and members of FCRV and the Kansas Campers Association for 7 years where they have served as Field Directors and Vice-president. They volunteer for various projects on the local, state and national level. David does parking, security, wagon master, and sports organizer. Connie instructs crafts projects and also helps organize the rally sports games such as bean bag baseball, washer toss, bocci ball and hillbilly golf. They worked on games at the Casa Grande Rally and will be helping with games and crafts at FCRV’s National Campvention this summer in Sedalia, Missouri.

Longs have promoted FCRV on radio, tv, state fairs and RV shows. They enjoy Travalongs and seeing new places. They will reign as King and Queen until next year’s retiree rally in March at Ladson, South Carolina.
